Head Unit Install

Pry/remove the U-shaped trim piece from the panel.

Unscrew the 4 screws you see in the picture (i removed the top left one already).

Slide out the stereo. The plastic pocket will come out with it as well.

Unplug the harness and antenna from the back of the stock unit.

Remove the screws that hold the brackets in place.

To save time you should buy a wire harness. Just plug into existing OEM harness and match up the colors on your new deck.

Metra makes a wide range of harnesses.

I know it's blurry but on the back of the wire harness package is the color codes of the wires.

To make things nice and neat I braided the wires. Prevents them from getting caught on other things when putting the unit back in.

Did the same on the head unit side.

Match up the colors, twist together and wrap connections in electical tape (i will solder them later).

Make sure to test out the unit before mounting back in dash.

Wire color code chart: if you don't use a harness then you have to match up the Toyota colors to the Standard colors.
